Denmark has been actively engaged in Zimbabwe since the struggle for independence and has since the creation of the Government of National Unity in 2009 strengthened relations and increased development cooperation significantly. Thus, Denmark is again amongst the largest bilateral donors in the country.
The overall objective of the Danish development cooperation is to contribute to Zimbabwe’s transition into multiparty democracy respectful of human rights and with a thriving economy benefiting all Zimbabweans.
The current Denmark-Zimbabwe Development Partnership Programme runs from 2013-2015. The budget for this programme amounts to almost 100 mil USD. Support is aligned to the national development priorities as set out in the Medium Term Plan 2011-2015 and centred on the following three components:
Through partnerships we engage actively with Zimbabwean, regional and international partners to promote a democratic Zimbabwe. Being an EU member state Denmark also collaborates with other member states on common objectives.
